Last night my girlfriend and I went to hear ex-punk rock band Blag Flag leadsinger Henry Rollins perform at Astra. Since phasing out his subsequent solo hard rock band, Rollins has been touring the world as a spoken word artist - although not in the traditional sense, but more of a political speech meets monologue meets punk rock history anecdote teller meets cosmopolitan folksy talk (that is indeed a compliment), with a subtle dash of underplayed stand-up humour every here and there. I am not afraid to call his almost three hour long performance brilliant, because it was. I'm already looking forward to the next time.
