Launching the REMODEL business model toolkit

.

The REMODEL open source hardware business model toolkit is now available freely.

Over the past year I have had the pleasure of leading a team in Danish Design Centre in the exploration of what new business models drive the emergent wave of open source hardware. The effort - REMODEL - has taken 10 Danish manufacturing (hardware, in the broadest sense of the word) companies ranging from large corporations like the Novozymes and Grundfos all the way to SME's and start-ups like Stykka, Thürmer Tools and Tekpartner through a design-driven program in which they experimented with open sourcing one of their existing products.

The 1.5 years of work has now finalized with a series of business cases describing the journeys of these companies as well as a comprehensive toolkit containing all the tools, methods and tips that they used: Organized in a manner so that any company can direct their own journey towards customizing a financially viable, open source-inspired business strategy of their own. Learn more by going to www.remodel.dk - where you can download the toolkit for yourself as well as read more about why open source innovation holds a huge potential for scaling your own business.

The toolkit was launched on November 5 at our concluding event titled Designing Open Business. To get a recap of the day, go here.
