The greatest rap band in history, Public Enemy, is offering fans (that's me) to support and fund their upcoming album via Sellaband.com, a site on which you can buy shares of USD 25 each and in return get a download as well as a tiny cut in any revenues the album might make.
I don't really care about the revenue, but I am highly excited to be able to actively support a band that I have enjoyed for so many years (15+) on wax and in concert. I even have a clock, signed by Flav the first time, hanging on the wall here 🙂

PS: To the people behind Sellaband.com: How about making a donation-functionality, so that users can choose to donate revenues to a cause either selected by the artist or from a general list?
