Great #futurefab workshop series

.

.
This past week I had the pleasure of co-hosting a series of 4 workshops as part of the "Future Fabrication" program (#Futurefab) that we're building in Danish Design Centre, focusing on the potential of maker culture and new technologies to radically revitalize fabrication in Denmark.

More specifically, we're exploring 4 concrete topics within this overall theme:

#1 Can we use design and advanced technology to revitalize production in rural areas?
#2 How can we create sustainable business models based on open-source sharing?
#3 Can design thinking stimulate innovation in new fields in production and manufacturing?
#4 Should designers become makers?

Each of workshops workshop addressed on of these topics and took place over the course of 2 days, and invited key stakeholders from relevant fields to help us explore design’s role in a new production era characterized by advanced manufacturing technology, global open-source currents and new self-empowerment mindsets. We also had the pleasure of being joined by leading international experts in the field including Tomas Diez, Director of Fablab Barcelona, and Peter Troxler, independent researcher from Rotterdam in the Netherlands. All in all 2 days of great insights that yieleded lots of potential to build on!
