We are the Project Team (details here.) We are a international group of artists, scientists, makers, activists, thinkers, and tinkers brought together by our mutual desire to explore alternative mediums of expression and creativity. We come from different backgrounds, we each have different passions and opinions, yet we all agree on a common idea:
Knowledge is magic.
In our various communities, workplaces and artistic endeavors, we strive to further the free dissemination knowledge, to promote sharing and collaboration– and to invoke wonder.
The core of our group are researchers at Harvard University, and we also work at Mozilla, Creative Commons, the Open Knowledge Foundation, MIT and the Open Tech Collaborative.
Together, we are a Tribe.
Members of the Tribe will always be present at the Tree of Knowledge; and many more, especially those recruited during the festival, will wander out into the wider festival.
They will be marked with glow-in-the-dark face and body paint. Such paints look particularly good under black light, so {1} in the Oasis, we will have black lights integrated into the installation; and {2} we will encourage traveling Tribe members to move in pairs: one painted, one with a black-light flashlight. These traveling luminous characters will, we hope, be memorable sights.
Our project team will include a set of skilled body-painters to help create elaborate patterns and full-body glow-in-the-dark tattoos for us all.
