Platform4 wins award #platform4 #aalborg

In the yearly Prestize Magazine Awards, held by Aalborg-based lifestyle-magazine Prestize, Platform4 (the art- and technology + co-working venue that I co-manage) was nominated in the 'Årets Ildsjæl' category, which translates roughly into something like 'Most passionate or dedicated project/person of the year'. To our great surprise, when the winners were announced on December 30, it turned out that we won (!). The vote, which took place among readers and other visitors to the magazine-website, gave us an astonishing 69% of the votes in this category. We cannot help feeling a little bit proud!

This year we not only opened the venue's co-working space, Platform4 Rooftop, but also held major events such as fx. the first ever European edition of the world's biggest 8bit-festival, Blip Festival, plus Liquid Borderland Festival, a digital/ephemeral art festival with week-long hack-space sessions, workshops, presentation and top-notch laser-tagging and light painting performances. Also, we had the annual electronic music and visuals festival Apart over three days with exhibitions and tons of good music and video performances.
On the side, several monthly music events took shape, among other one of Denmarks finest dubstep-clubnights, Dub-ass, whose organizers did 5 succesful rounds over the summer - featuring some of Europes finest dj's. Most importantly, however, a creative family of more than a hundred volunteers were formed around the venue, all taking part in making Platform4 into what it is today. Everyone of these own a stake in this award - so we'll put the diploma in the café.

Thanks to everybody who voted and took part in the Platform4-activities of this year. Let's make 2010 even more incredible and passionate.
