This past week I was very excited to visit Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Innovation Lab for the first time, following an invitation from one of my great heroes in the open source-driven innovation space: Eric A. von Hippel. The kind invite followed the work I have had the privilege of doing in Dansk Design Center in the exploration of new business models for hardware based on open source principles (more on that here - and the outcome, a toolkit, can be found here). To add even more to the excitement I had the pleasure of taking part a 2-day workshop in the lab alongside such notable organizations as NASA, Ford Motor Company, Melinda & Bill Gates Foundation and Harvard Business School to name a few. Great way to end a year of really interesting work in the open innovation space!
